Cross-compiling blues
November 6th, 2009
Yet another version 1.2.5. But this time it works on Leopard 10.5.8, at long last.
Latest Leopard
Note that you likely need to upgrade your Leopard box to at least 10.5.7. This happens automatically via Apple’s Software Update tool. Hence I’ll assume that all the Leopard users have 10.5.7 or 10.5.8 installed.
The problem was persisting
I got close with 1.2.4 but not close enough. Some of the DLL files for Wine still throw up the mysterious “unknown required load command 0×80000022” error when you launch the app. You can find this message in the Console log.
However, with help from Derrick Workman of Colorado, we’ve managed to narrow it down further. Now there is a version which does in fact run properly on Leopard 10.5. Please try it out. Please let me know if you have any problems.
Default X11 with Leopard works fine
One thing I noticed during testing: You can run with Leopard’s standard X11. You do not need to install XQuartz at all. If you install the standard X11 and let Software Update upgrade the X11 software to its latest version (actually XQuartz 2.1.6 with xorg-server version 1.4.2-apple33) all is well. Useful to know.

Dear Roy, I have downloaded isilo for my iphone and I am having trouble locating the .pdb files on my computer to transfer over to my iphone. i have uploaded both the windows version and the pda version to my computer and cannot figure it out. Can you help me?

Dear Jerome, Are you looking for the PDB files on the official CD-ROM? Trouble is, they don’t currently ship them with the CD. You will need to join one of the Yahoo or Google groups online. As far as I know, there is no “official” outlet for the PDBs.

I have been using your software from the time i got my mac in march 09’ and i’m so happy i came across your link! Thank you for spending so much time on this usable application. I have a favor. do you know the step by step way to get the WTL on an Iphone? is there a way? if there is could you please post? Thank you again.

Dear Jair, Please see Jerome’s comment #1 above. You need the PDB files and iSilo. It’s not quite the same as the Library on iPhone. You don’t have the same features, e.g. full searching. However, at the moment, it’s as far as you can get on iPhone.

Hi Yoshi, It sounds like you have an older version, e.g. 1.2.1 through 1.2.4; the new version is 1.2.5. Is this the version you are using?

Dear Yoshi, Does Copy and Paste work using just the toolbar buttons? I’m wondering if it’s a keyboard problem or a pasteboard problem.
December 9th, 2009 at 12:48 AM
Thanks for the response. I can use tools for copy and cut but just only paste is not working. I’ll just reinstall or something! but how do i do it? just throw the file to trash? and reinstall?

Dear Yoshi, I suspect reinstalling won’t work if the software is running, which it is. My guess is, there is something else. It needs a little debugging to find the cause. If you like, we can meet up via iChat, my address is royratcliffe (AIM) or royratcliffe@jabber.org; I’m in the GMT+0 time zone. That way, we can screen share and I can help you diagnose the problem. Wednesday (today) is my main ministry day but I’ll be done by about 7pm. Is that your morning time?

Hi Roy, Thank you very much for this excellent application – I’m currently running it on my MacBook and it is fantastic.
I have a question about installing on OS 10.5.8 though – I’m trying to install this on my friend’s eMac and I am getting the error ‘WT Library is not supported on this architecture’ – any ideas how to get past this?
Thank you
Chris

Dear Chris, eMacs using PowerPC chipsets not Intel so won’t work. See details here under heading Any problems running on Snow Leopard, or Leopard? Sorry about that. Regards, Roy

Thanks for the reply Roy – I have a spare Virtual PC they can use until they upgrade to an Intel Mac so they don’t miss out. Thanks for the reply and thanks again for this awesome application – it has made my studying so much easier as I have been able to give up PC emulators which ran very slowly.
